Books for the Future - One Tree Planted for Each Book Sold

In efforts to increase environmental sustainability and reduce environmental damage, Books for the Future works with libraries, colleges and universities, as well as communities to collect books that would otherwise be abandoned or turned to waste. For each book sold, Books for the Future plants one tree through Trees for the Future. Additionally, Books for the Future relays the profits of their book sales to renewable energy initiatives including biodiesel, wind, and solar energy advocacy.

Books for the Future aims to create global and local sustainability, by transforming the life cycle of books. The creation of paper books requires many trees and immense amounts of water. Furthermore, each year millions of pounds of books are discarded, straining our already overcrowded landfills. By planting a tree for each book sold, we are offsetting future deforestation for the purpose of bookmaking, while serving as a resource for libraries and communities aiming to be more environmentally responsible.

Currently, our featured project is increasing the local availability of biodiesel by assisting retail gas stations in providing it to their customers. For more information on the progress of this initiative, please visit the Biodiesel People.
