About Books For The Future
Our story is simple: we wanted to provide a resource for reusing books that would otherwise be thrown out and decided to plant a tree for each book we sell, to offset our energy and create positive global climate change.
In everything we do, we try our best to be sustainable: Our books are hauled using biodiesel as a fuel source, our operating energy is offset by carbon credits (and tree planting), all of the paper we use and some of the shipping materials we use are recycled, we transport orders to the post office via bicycle and trailer, and recently we've implemented composting for office materials that cannot be recycled.
We're normal, down-to-earth citizens, researchers, learners, and advocates for all things sustainable. We want to hear from you with suggestions or comments and hope you do your part in respecting the Earth and its inhabitants. Please visit Trees for the Future for updates on their global efforts, and stay tuned here for updates on Books for the Future.
Books for the Future was founded in early 2007 by Emily Whebbe and Kai Curry as a division of Sundays Energy, Inc. Located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, it is currently managed by Emily with the help of irreplaceable employees and many generous volunteers. Books for the Future would like to thank Sundays Energy for the opportunity to grow and thrive independently; Shirly, for "keeping us out of trouble" with book donations; and our mothers, for always supporting our efforts and dreams.
