Environmental Impact

Trees:

Each book sold by Books for the Future allows one tree to be planted through Trees for the Future, offsetting 50 pounds of carbon dioxide each year. We've adopted villlages where the trees are planted by aboriculturists as well as community members. One of the villages we have adopted named Willanen is in the department of Kaffrine, Senegal. The area has been devastated by global climate change and deforestation. Trees for the Future employees educate and aid villagers in creating a diverse ecosystem that provides food, shade, water, and fuel to the area; a truly holistic approach.

Environmental Sustainability:

Each book donated helps the environment beyond planting trees. As renewable energy advocates, Books for the Future donates 100% of its proceeds to advancing environmental sustainability. Efforts support the use of biodiesel and other forms of renewable energy, as well as energy efficiency.

Community Building:

Books for the Future often participates in local sustainability efforts. Recently employees and supporters joined fellow community members in planting trees along the Minneapolis Midtown Greenway, a local bicycle path.

In addition, upon learning of our mission, our customers have started planting trees in their communities and through Trees for the Future.
